Deep Space

The Deep Space Network is essentially a number of antennas found all over the world. The purpose of these antennas would be to provide support for several deep space missions that are set up in outer space for the purpose of being able to observe the conditions of outer space. Among the programs that they support, of course, would be some earth-orbiting missions and some inter-planetary space missions. The Deep Space Network supports these by means of radar and radio observations pertaining to outer space. At the moment, there are only three Deep Space stations that make up the Deep Space Network, and they are the following: one just outside of Madrid, Spain; one somewhere in the Mojave Desert in California, United States of America and; one just outside of Canberra, Australia. Observing them, one would realize that they are about one hundred and twenty degrees apart around the globe – something done on purpose so that outer space could constantly be observed.

Evidently, the Deep Space antenna near Canberra is something that many Australians are proud of. Despite the fact that Deep Space is a product of an American space agency, Australia could nevertheless claim to have contributions to space research.
